Dear Arkansans,
As your Auditor of State, I oversee payroll, accounting, and retirement matching for state government employees in the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government. We disburse more than $100 million in payroll each year to over 700 people. My office also prints and mails all state warrants, including personal income tax refund checks. During peak tax season, we print over 20,000 checks per day. In fiscal year 2026, we processed 2.8 million state warrants totaling over $29.8 billion dollars.
By and large, the most fun part of my job as auditor is overseeing the state’s Unclaimed Property program, the Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt. I’m required by law to make people aware of this program and help reunite Arkansans with their unclaimed property. I truly love being able to help Arkansans find their unclaimed money. That is one of the reasons I sought help from the legislature to implement our automatic check program, Data Match, in 2025. Since taking office on Jan. 10, 2023, I have returned $148.7 million back to its rightful owners in unclaimed property.
There is roughly $600 million the Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt that is owed to current and former Arkansans. I encourage you to search our database to see if you or anyone you know has something to claim!
